Welcome to Here's Grampa!

After 31 years of teaching at the university level and raising 9 children I find myself having thoughts and insights that I want to share with my current family and save for my descendants.

Some of my posts will be trivial and many will be anesthetizing for those readers who have trouble falling asleep at night. But a few, I hope, will be edifying, strengthening, or educational to my family and friends who may follow.

Topics may range from antique car restoration to classical music to alternative energy but my primary focus will be thoughts that will build and strengthen the foundations for testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the hearts of my loved ones. My greatest desire is that my family will confess the Lord's hand in all things and keep his commandments that there might be more joy in their lives.

We live in a world that is physically beautiful and filled with evidences that bear record of Christ, but it is also a complex world where true beauty and truth and joy are frequently disguised, overlooked, or shunned. It was meant to be this way from the beginning. If it were not there would be nothing to learn, no test, no integrity, rather, all things would be "a compound in one". My hope is to provide insights that will help my family discern and avoid misery, and enjoy "that happiness which is prepared for the saints."
